Yes On Measure-T Web Site, No Endorsements

Another amazing item that we found, the Yes On Measure-T website (welovelh.com) has nobody endorsing the sales tax measure.

If you go to the site and try to click on the “Endorsements” link you will find it is not active.  Why? Because none of the incumbents up for re-election, Rose Espinoza(D), Tom Beamish(R), and candidates Darren Nigsarian(D), Tim Shaw(R),  will risk running on the tax for fear of losing.

While they all support the Sales Tax increase, they refuse to put their verbal commitments into print or on their individual web sites.

Come on you guys’ and gal.  Be proud of your stance on raising taxes on your constituents during this country’s biggest economic crisis since the great depression.  All of you are brilliantly articulate about why we need the tax when you speak to your supporters but you become very different when speaking to the public.

You can see Tim Shaw & Darren Nigsarian discussing why they are for the tax by clicking on the “Video” link in the Categories Box to the right side of this page.

These folks are covertly running on the tax while at the same time they are running away from it when it comes to their campaign material or speaking to the public.

Again, their actions speak volumes.

All these candidates supporting Measure T, particulalry the RINOs are embarrassing. Hopefully, a new crop of candidates get elected.

As for the two sitting RINOs awaiting re-election in 2010, there should be term limits.

When I e-mailed the candidates about the latest Pro Proposition T mailer sent by the city, I got some very interesting responses. Tim Shaw responded that the mailer was legal because it didn’t actually say “vote yes on measure T”. Daren Nigsarian said that the city crossed the line with the mailer and while it was well meant, it was wrong. Rose Espinosa replied “All funds raised supporting T are raised from individual donations, no city funds were use nor will ever be used for such matters.” I got no reply from Tom Beamish.

I was really impressed by Larry Dobkin’s comments at the candidate’s forum. For the first time, I’ve actually posted a candidate’s sign in my front yard. We really need someone like Larry on the city council rather than the rubber stamp majority that we’ve had for so many years…

    What’s RINO?

    Lynette, way to go girl!

Tim Shaw is a bureaucrats bureaucrat. His response to your question gives insight into his philosophoc tendancies towards government and that it is always right. Can you just imagine him as a councilman and you’re standing there at the lecturn with Tim using that line “its legal cause government is never wrong.”

Rose has no idea what she is doing, period. School board would be better suited for her and She could actually make a fairly positive impact.

Nigsarian may have realized the importance and milage he can get out of acting as a watchdog for the people, however late in the game he is at figuring that out.

We have had two independent election attorney’s review the first mailer the city manager sent out and the second one he sent out with the Chief Kies letter on the front. Both experts, independently of each other, immediately came to the same conclusion that it was a violation of the Fair Political Practices Commssions laws.

After a measure has been put on the ballot, a governmet entity cannot spend public funds on promoting the measure. Most try to get around this by producing what they call “information pieces” but cities never get it right. They always have a major streak of arrogance about them and as such, they will violate the very laws they would prosecute you and I for.

We do not wish to tip off the city as to what is going to happen, but rest assured they will have to answer for this.

A RiNO is a Republican in Name Only. They talk one way when they are in front of things like Republican endorement committees, then they go back to their cities, discard their Republican ideals and say/do whatever they have too to get elected. Tim Shaw did this and thats why the OC GOP took the extra step and voted “not to endorse” him.
